Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to obtain a Florida insurance license?

To obtain a Florida insurance license, you must complete the required state-approved pre-licensing education, pass the applicable Florida licensing exam, submit fingerprints for a background check, and apply for the license through the Florida Department of Financial Services.

National Online Insurance School provides state-approved Florida pre-licensing courses that satisfy the required education hours for each license. Course material covers the insurance concepts, Florida laws, and regulations tested on the state licensing exam.

Is National Online Insurance School approved in Florida?

Yes. National Online Insurance School is approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services (Provider ID: 366943), and our Florida pre-licensing courses are approved to satisfy the state's required pre-licensing education.

National Online Insurance School has helped students prepare for insurance licensing exams since 2008. Our Florida courses cover the Life and Health concepts, Florida laws, and regulations tested on the state licensing exam and include unlimited practice exams through our Exam Simulator.

What is the difference between the Florida 2-15, 2-14, and 2-40 licenses?

The Florida 2-15 license covers life and health insurance, including annuities and variable contracts, and requires a 60-hour pre-licensing course. The 2-14 license covers life insurance, including annuities and variable contracts, and requires a 30-hour course. The 2-40 license covers health insurance and requires a 40-hour course.

If you already hold a 2-14 or 2-40 license, you would complete the course and licensing requirements for the remaining line of authority rather than pursue a separate 2-15 license. Holding both a 2-14 and 2-40 provides licensing authority equivalent to a 2-15. You cannot retest for a line of authority you already hold; you must apply for the remaining license instead.

For official qualification information, visit Florida DFS License Qualifications.

Do you have to complete all of the hours in a Florida online insurance course?

No. Florida law requires at least 75% of the required course hours to be completed before a provider can grant course completion credit.

For the Florida 2-14 course, that is 22.5 of 30 hours; for the 2-40 course, 30 of 40 hours; and for the 2-15 course, 45 of 60 hours.

What is the NAIFA-Florida Health & Life Study Manual?

NAIFA-Florida distributes the official Florida Health & Life (Including Annuities & Variable Contracts) Study Manual on which the Florida state licensing exams are based. The manual alone does not satisfy Florida's pre-licensing education requirement.

National Online Insurance School's courses are reviewed and approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services to satisfy the required course credit hours and fully prepare you for the state licensing exam. You do not need to purchase the manual to enroll in or complete the online course, but it is available separately from NAIFA-Florida.

How long does it take to prepare for the state insurance exam?

Most students prepare for the state insurance exam in one to two weeks, but the timeline can range from a few days to a few weeks depending on state requirements, required course hours, and study pace.

Every enrollment includes 60 days of course access, beginning when you start the course. Because the course is self-paced, you can take the time needed to understand the material and build consistent practice-exam scores before taking the state exam.

Are practice exams included to help me prepare for my state exam?
Our Exam Simulator gives you unlimited, customizable practice exams that mirror the format and difficulty of the state licensing exam. It includes 3,000+ questions, detailed answer reviews, and connects directly to Pass Report to track your performance.
What if I need help during my course?
You'll have access to licensed instructors seven days a week for the duration of your enrollment. If you have a question, simply use the Ask an Instructor feature within the course to get a quick, written response-perfect for reviewing anytime you need it.
What is Pass Report and how does it help me prepare?
Pass Report is our real-time readiness tracker. It analyzes your lesson progress, practice exam results, and final exam score to show when you're ready for the state exam. It helps cut study time, doubles your chance of passing, and gives you confidence on exam day.
What is the Guarantee Pass and how does it work?
Our Guarantee Pass is included at no extra cost. Pass two consecutive practice exams in our simulator and take your state exam within three days. If you don't pass, you'll keep full course access until you do — or you can request a full refund.
