New Mexico Insurance Exam Qualifications

In order to qualify to sit for your Life, or Accident & Health or Life, Accident & Health New Mexico insurance exam, the following must occur:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of the state of New Mexico
  • Must not have committed any act that is a ground for denial of license

Basic Steps to Obtain a New Mexico Insurance License

  1. Prepare for your state exam with an insurance course from a New Mexico insurance school for the Life or Accident & Health insurance license, or a course for the Life, Accident & Health insurance license, such as those offered by National Online Insurance School.
  2. Registration for your state insurance exam can be completed online at PSI. First time users must create an account, which will allow you to schedule your exam location, date and time. If you prefer to schedule your exam by phone, you may call PSI toll-free at 1-800-733-9267.
  3. Upon successful completion of your state exam, you should complete an insurance license application through Vertafore (formerly Sircon). Once you are on Vertafore’s website, you will choose 'Apply for a license' from the menu on the left. On the next page choose 'Individual' next to Submit Resident Application. Next, complete the application by choosing New Mexico, entering your information and submitting the appropriate application fees.
  • Note: If you fail an exam twice, you will not be allowed to retake it again for 30 days. If you fail your exam an additional two times, you will have to wait an additional six months to schedule and take your exam and will need to submit a new application form, application fees, registration form and registration fees.
