How to get a Idaho insurance license

As a life and health insurance education provider, our goal is to guide you through the pre-licensing process. In addition to completing your pre-licensing training, we have simplified the steps to attaining your Idaho insurance license.

Idaho Insurance Exam Qualifications

In order to qualify to sit for your Idaho Life insurance exam, or Health & Disability insurance exam, or Life, Health & Disability insurance exam, the following must occur:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • If you are not a citizen of the United States, you must provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Be a resident of the state of Idaho
  • Must not have committed any act that is a ground for denial of license

Basic Steps to Obtain an Idaho Insurance License

  1. Prepare for your state exam with an insurance course from an Idaho insurance school for the Life, or Health & Disability insurance license, or a course for the Life, Health & Disability insurance license.
  2. Schedule your state exam online at Pearson Vue. You may also reserve a test date over the phone by calling 1-800-274-2721.
  3. Electronic fingerprints must be completed at the testing center on your exam day. Fingerprints are valid for 6 months.
  4. Upon successful completion of your state exam, you should complete an insurance license application through Vertafore (formerly Sircon). Once you are on Vertafore’s website, you will choose 'Apply for a license' from the menu on the left. On the next page choose 'Individual' next to Submit Resident Application. Next, complete the application by choosing Idaho, entering your information and submitting the appropriate application fees.
  • Note: If you fail one section of your state exam, you are required to retake only the failed section.
