How to get a Wyoming insurance license

As a life and health insurance education provider, our goal is to guide you through the pre-licensing process. In addition to completing your pre-licensing training, we have simplified the steps to attaining your Wyoming insurance license.

Wyoming Insurance Exam Qualifications

In order to qualify to sit for your Wyoming Life insurance exam, Accident & Health or Sickness & Disability insurance exam, or Life, Accident & Health or Sickness & Disability insurance exam, the following must occur:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a resident of the state of Wyoming
  • Must not have committed any act that is a ground for denial of license

Basic Steps to Obtain a Wyoming Insurance License

  1. Prepare for your state exam with an insurance course from a Wyoming insurance school for the Life, Accident & Health or Sickness & Disability insurance license, or a course for the Life, Accident & Health or Sickness & Disability insurance license.
  2. Schedule your state exam online at Pearson Vue. Once there, choose Request an Examination Reservation. First time users must obtain a check-in code and will be asked to provide their name, email address and phone number, as well as a personal password. You will receive a check-in code immediately upon submitting the requested information and you will then be prompted to complete the online Reservation Request Form. You may also reserve a test date over the phone by calling 1-866-936-7786.
  3. Upon successful completion of your state exam, you should complete an insurance license application through Vertafore (formerly Sircon). Once you are on Vertafore’s website, you will choose 'Apply for a license' from the menu on the left. On the next page choose 'Individual' next to Submit Resident Application. Next, complete the application by choosing Wyoming, entering your information and submitting the appropriate application fees.
  4. Upon receiving license application and appropriate fees, the Department of Insurance will send you a fingerprint packet. Fingerprints are required for the Department to run a criminal history check to ensure that you meet all requirements to hold a Wyoming insurance license.

$96 Exam Fee - Life or Accident & Health or Sickness & Disability
$39 Criminal History Check Fee
$100 Application Fee

Helpful Hints to Licensure

  • Applicants with disabilities should make special arrangements by visiting Pearson Vue's test accommodations page.
  • If English is not your first language, you can request additional time for your insurance exam by requesting an ESL authorization from Pearson Vue. In addition, you must also provide a personal letter requesting the authorization and a signed letter from your instructor at National Online Insurance School.
